Individual 6/Charley?

Individual 6 is an unidentified boy who appears with three other boys in a photo labeled as “Weber Utes.” This boy appears in at least two other known photographs.

The portrait of this boy with him holding a bow and arrow has been labeled “Charley Brave.”

These photos date between the late 1860s-early 1870s and were taken in Salt Lake City.

The high-quality photo came from the C.W. Carter glass plate negative collection, the others from various auction and collector sites — except for the photo of the boy pointing the bow and arrow, which is from the Amon Carter Museum of American Art.

A collection of documents, excerpts, and photographs relevant to the so-called Weber Ute people of Northern Utah. Not a complete history — research aid only.
