Samuel Park Jr., Resident of West Weber, Plain City, Salt Lake City, and Skull Valley, was “Friend of Indians”

As taken from “Pioneer History of Samuel Park Jr. & Jean (Jane) Harvey,” written by daughter Ellen H. Park in 1939, with additions by Erma P. Gordon Anderson and Joe Anderson (great-great grandson)

Father [Samuel Park Jr.] was a pioneer in the full sense of the word. He helped build Weber, West Weber, and Plain City, Utah. Moving back to Salt Lake City and later to Skull Valley, Father became a very successful rancher and stock raiser. He was a friend of the Indians. He gave them food and helped them in any way that he could. He respected their rights and they in turn loved and respected him. His Indian friends were set to the table like honored guests.

[Biographical notes from the same file: Samuel Park Jr arrived in Salt Lake City in September 1855, lived Utah county for a bit, then lived in Plain City and West Weber between 1858-1866, and moved to Tooele County in 1866 or 1872.]
