Uintah Cemetery’s first burial was an Indian man; settlers dug the grave, and his dog was killed and laid on top

The first person buried in the Uintah cemetery was an Indian. The whites buried him and all he owned was a dog. When the grave was filled in, the other Indians killed the dog and laid it on the grave.
