- April 30, 1836: Miles Goodyear meets up with Henry Spalding and William Gray of the Whitman-Spalding party in the spring of 1836, some 40 miles from Fort Leavenworth
- July 6, 1836: Miles Goodyear attends a Mountain Man Rendezvous near present-day Daniel, Wyoming, and decides he wants to become a free trapper/freeman
- August 3-4, 1836: The Whitmans and Miles Goodyear arrive at Fort Hall; Miles Goodyear parts company with them, deciding to try his fortune in the mountains
