- Between 1858-1862: Ether Enos McBride was a playmate to Indian kids near Ogden, became familiar with language, customs
- Between 1858-1909: Jane Rommrell Pierce, of Ogden, learns about the medicinal value of herbs from Indian people
- Circa May 1858: Joseph Vernon is killed by Indians in Rush Valley, near the town which now bears his name (Vernon); an expedition is sent out to recover his body
- Ca summer/fall 1858: In Layton, an ox belonging to Elias Adams is taken by Indians; Adams confronts them, receives apology
